FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Shorthand?

Shorthand is a method of rapid writing that uses symbols, abbreviations, and simplified strokes to write as quickly as someone can speak.

As a former journalist Claire had to learn Teeline Shorthand and be able to write 100 words per minute, 100% to pass her training. It took 11 weeks to learn and she has been using is ever since as a print journalist, radio producer, documentary maker and now in jewellery.
Will you do more sweary ones?

Well the Fuck one is certainly flying out of the shop and I have had requests for even more NSFW words which I might make as a limited edition.

Email claire@clairehilldesigns.co.uk with words you might like.
Can you make a custom Shorthand word or engrave it?

Currently we are not taking custom words as each necklace needs a new wax mould to be made and then 6 weeks production from the factory.

But never say never, please email claire@clairehilldesigns.co.uk and we will look into the request.
How do I find the right size ?

All of our jewellery is shown on models and indivudual dimensions are shown above.

We use the US sizing for all of our rings and you can find out how to measure our rings, order the free ring size or compare US to UK sizes here

Our small huggie hoops are made to hug the ear but all ears and piercing placement are individual. Please use the internal dimensions as your guide for fit or email claire@clairehilldesigns.co.uk for further advice.

How long until my jewellery arrives?

Orders are shipped daily Mon-Fri from the Cardiff studio.

As standard orders are sent out 1st Class so you can generally expect your orders within a few days of payment.

For express orders please use our Next Day Guaranteed shipping option at checkout (this is valid Mon-Fri and for orders placed by 12pm)
Do you offer gift-wrapping?

Looking to gift the jewellery? I offer free gift-wrapping and hand-written notes with all your orders. So you can have five-star gifting every time.

Add your note at checkout and we will take care of the rest.
Can I return or exchange it if it's not right?

Bought the wrong item or sizing not correct? You have 60 days to exchange your jewellery (excluding earrings).

Want to return?
If you change your mind within 60 days of purchase, we'll offer you a full refund credited to the card used in the original sales transaction.

Earrings are not refundable due to hygiene reasons.
